One comment for students of Byzantine Chant: This is the kliton encantilation of the doxasticon, that is: this itself is not plagal 2nd mode. After the encantilation in kliton (4th mode) the choir would antiphonally chant this doxasticon again in plagal of the 2nd mode.

In the 15th Antipon you hear a detailed description of the crucifixion of Jesus. It gives the people a better explanation of the events of the day than they would get by reading it. Because many of the people were illiterate in the early days of the church. The Orthodox Church is very rich in tradition. I think you would get a better idea of the hymns from the Antiochian Orthodox Tradition you would with the Greek.
